The excessive heat from flat irons break the bond of your new growth (which is natural) and make your relaxed hair even straighter.
I can’t count the amount of clients that I have seen with this problem. By the time they come to me, they are so frustrated that their hair is not growing fast enough, it’s still too straight! They obsess over the fact that their hair is not growing fast enough. Which means that the new growth is so straight that it is difficult to see how fast the hair is growing or not because of the heat from the flat-iron.
You add that to the growing pains of dealing with two different hair textures… and Houston we have a problem! At this point, of course they want me to perform a miracle.
“Part the red sea! Do something! I can’t do this! My hair is not growing! What else am I going to do with it if I don’t straighten it? What should I do?” they ask.
My answer: Stop flat-ironing that hair!
